Dear developer, we have a challenge for you: come help us build a news search engine better than Google News
You should come work for us if you want to build something to be proud of
Hey there, how are you? We suspect you might be interested to hear about what we’re building, because well… it’s a really cool project. Some years ago we started building Journa.com: a news search engine that revolves around the authors of news – the writers, thinkers and makers instead of just the news. Journa helps journalists make their work more visible. Many well known journalist in The Netherlands and Belgium have a profile on Journa and the platform is well known in editorial offices in both countries. The search engine is also loved by communication professionals because it gives them a fine grained view of the media landscape in their niches. With our search engine they know what they’re up against before they start their PR-campaigns.
Why is it better than Google News?
Our mantra at Smart.pr is that good PR starts with good research. Our mission with Journa is – in addition to to helping journalist showcase their work – to help communications professionals get a full picture of the news around their topics, before they start their PR campaigns. Google News didn’t give us the full picture of what Dutch and Belgian media were publishing about and who the authors, journalists, bloggers, columnists and experts to watch were. Because of our local focus at Journa (just The Netherlands and Belgium) and our unique technology that finds the author in every article (and combines their work into a portfolio overview), we can help professionals get a hold of the increasingly complex media landscape.
What’s next?
The platform is doing well, it attracts a ton of visitors and it’s appreciated by journalists, researchers and communications professionals. We found a business model in offering more advanced search features to PR-people in Journa Pro. So, it’s time for next steps. We’re currently working on two frontiers: we want to apply our local focus to more countries and we want to bring the power of Journa to our tool for professional PR-people at Smart.pr.
We are convinced that the PR management software of Smart.pr with the news search engine of Journa is a winning combination in the world of professional PR. Currently, there’s nothing that comes close in the market. So, our question to you is: do you want to come help build this winning combination and make it flourish far outside our national borders?
Ok, so let’s talk about you then…
